GHIN App Redesign: Rolling Out This Fall

Your Handicap Index has always been at the heart of GHIN. Now, the GHIN app is making it easier to get more from your game, before, during and after every round.

The redesigned GHIN app brings a cleaner look, simpler navigation and the tools golfers use most right where they need them. Your Handicap Index is front and center, while quick access makes it easier to post a score, start a round with GPS, keep score for your group, track a match or use the Handicap Calculator.

You can also get a better picture of where your Handicap Index is headed. New Revision Highlights show your last Score Differential, the next score to drop from your 20-score window and your best differential from your last 20 scores. It’s a simple way to better understand your handicap and what might happen next.

Heading out for a round? Getting started is faster, with home, nearby and recently played courses easy to find. On the course, scoring and stat tracking are designed for easy one-handed use, with fewer taps and automatic progression from one part of your score to the next. And if GPS isn’t your thing, you can switch to a simple digital Scorecard view.

After your round, the new Stats section gives you more ways to see your game. Explore your recent Handicap Index trends, rounds played, courses played and key performance stats. You can dive deeper into scores, differentials, hole-by-hole performance, putting, fairways and greens in regulation, and even see how you perform on specific courses.

The redesigned Apple Watch experience makes playing even easier, too. Available to all golfers, it lets you leave your phone in your pocket and use your Watch on the course. Enhanced GPS subscribers can access additional yardages, including front, middle and back of the green, hazards and layup points.

With improved group scoring and match play, Challenges at participating courses and easier golfer search, GHIN is becoming a bigger part of the way you play.

The USGA has also introduced Rules AI within the GHIN App – an innovative, first-of-its-kind technology designed to make the Rules of Golf more accessible and understandable for golfers everywhere. Golfers can submit Rules of Golf questions in plain language and receive answers generated by Rules AI, making it easier to get quick, accessible guidance while playing. Rules AI is still in a beta phase, having launched earlier in 2026, with a target of spring 2027 for all GHIN users to have access.
